Our history

Berkshire Wildlife Services began 15 years ago when founder, Dawn Collins, opened up her own property to injured wildlife who needed help. Local veterinarians would contact Dawn, who had a reputation for animal rescue, seeking her assistance caring for injured or orphaned wildlife. Over her tenure, BWS has assisted animals from the entire state of Massachusetts.

collaboration

Not only does Berkshire Wildlife Services collaborate with the Massachusetts Division of Fisheries & Wildlife, but also many other state, local, and policing agencies. From Environmental Protection Police to your local landscaping business who finds a nest of baby rabbits, BWS has cultivated relationships with them all. It is always a team effort from the good Samaritan who finds the injured or orphaned animal, to the Animal Control Officer who collects it, to the volunteer who transports the wildlife to BWS.

Our Mission

To successfully treat injured and orphaned wildlife with the goal of releasing them back into the wild.
